The façade of the building echoes the industrial past of Saint-Ouen through the generous proportions of its bay windows. Its architecture is made up of noble materials: solid wood structure, enamelled terracotta cladding and metal sunshades. The vertical circulation installed outside allows to optimize the access to the different spaces of the project. <\/p>
The structure is divided into two parts: an infra structure in low carbon concrete, naturally lit and reversible parking lots to allow an extension of the ground floor programs; a super structure consisting of a post and beam system in solid wood with prefabricated low carbon concrete floors from the first to the sixth floor. Beneath Paris’ overhead ring road, four five-a-side football pitches and a timber building contribute to the transformation of the neighbourhood.<\/strong><\/p> <\/p> The Porte Pouchet project is part of a large-scale urban redevelopment begun in 2003 to redefine Paris’ city gates. It aims to revive local life and create new links between Paris and the neighbouring towns of Clichy and Saint Ouen. The site, which was home to a vehicle pound and a municipal garage, has been transformed over an area of nearly 15 hectares thanks to a neighbourhood-wide scheme and the landscaping of large public spaces. The sports facility designed by DREAM beneath the périphérique<\/em> ring road participates in the new attractiveness of this previously neglected area.<\/p> <\/p> The practice’s flagship material, timber is used for the structure (walls and roof) and facade, bringing a warmth to this concrete environment. The design of this 9-story complex was guided by user comfort, the legibility of spaces and accesses, and a strong environmental ambition. A suspended garden links the PEM to the offices and offers a haven of coolness and relaxation to users. From the South Station square, the monumental 12-meter high façade of the hall, bathed in light, highlights the bicycle park, one of the largest in Europe. The organization of the offices responds to a double strategy: maximum openness to the landscape and optimization of compactness. With a wooden structure and solid wood CLT flooring, without false ceilings, the offices feature exposed wood creating a unique and warm atmosphere for users. The teaching spaces benefit from carefully controlled natural light, while the gymnasium enjoys indirect lighting that ensures optimal visual comfort. The glued-laminated timber structure, combined with composite wood–concrete floors, highlights the use of bio-based materials and creates a warm atmosphere conducive to learning.
The project is founded on a bioclimatic design approach, incorporating compactness, thermal inertia, nocturnal natural ventilation, ventilation stacks, and external solar shading devices.

The singular silhouette of the building is invaded by the nature of the neighboring park. A large space shelters a light vegetation and a set of footbridges and staircases which are so many informal spaces allowing teachers, students and visitors to meet or to work. People no longer meet in corridors, but in light-filled living spaces. The large transparent façade opens to the west onto a vast public space covered with lawns and partially wooded. The project is part of an exemplary approach to 100% off-site, timber and low-carbon construction, designed to combine structural performance, quality of use and environmental sustainability. The development is based on a fully industrialised system combining prefabricated bathrooms, load-bearing timber-framed walls with external tile finishes integrated in the workshop, CLT mezzanine floors and prefabricated BB slabs.
The structure is made entirely of French spruce, sourced locally and certified by BOIS DE FRANCE and PEFC FRANCE.
30% of the roof area generates photovoltaic electricity, which is used for self-consumption.
